About

Grace Enemaku is an award-winning, Irish-Nigerian, multidisciplinary illustrator. She is also co-founder of DesignOpp, an IDI initiative that champions diversity for People of Colour in the Irish design and creative industry.

Surreal iconography, sparkles and vibrant colours saturate her work and she takes inspiration from the nostalgia of her 90s childhood immersed in sticker books and anime. Her projects vary from conceptual brand identities for new businesses, to print and illustration for brands and agencies. Select clients include Guinness, Cadburys, Facebook/Meta, The Science Gallery, Gill Books and more.

She recently launched a YouTube channel documenting her life as a creative in Dublin. Her first illustrated children’s book I Believe In You by Deborah Somorin was published by Gill Books last year. She won a 100 Archive Award in 2020 and has exhibited with Hen’s Teeth and Where Are The Black Designers.

Brand Strategy & Identity

Hello Daydream - Community for Women

Kara approached me to create a brand identity for her new business, to build a community for women that would support and inspire each other to achieve their personal and professional dreams. When she first contacted me there was no name, no strategy, just an idea. So our first task was brand strategy to identify her target audience, the goals of the business and tease out her values and what she wanted the brand to represent. This allowed us to shape a decisive brand identity and generate brand names that would meet those goals and resonate with her audience of professional women with unrealised dreams, searching for motivation and community.

Brand Strategy & Identity

Black@ Facebook: Arise

Facebook has an internal team called Black@ who are dedicated to uplifting and celebrating its Black employees and they also run many community programs for education and upskilling. Arise is one such program, aimed at getting more Black college students FB Blueprint certified. The brief was to create a sub brand for Black@ that was bright and would appeal to students while still being recognizable as the Black@ branding.

The shape of the logomark implies energy, upward mobility and overcoming. And the existing Black@ patterns were recoloured to be more eye catching and energetic. A simlified logo is used for small sizes and one colour printing.

Social media templates were created for the team so that they could quickly swap out the information when they had events, webinars or panels to promote online. The modular grid means each element can be swapped out and patterns can be alternated. This allowed them to easily create many different poster designs using the same assets, which feel brand new every time.
