Brianne Moore, La Reign, 2023, Acrylic and Fabric
This piece was inspired by how I view Black women as the blueprint for both beauty and presence. I used an acrylic medium to create this piece. The variations of African wax print used to create her skirt represent the fashion influence we bring to the world. I also used fabric flowers for the crown as an ode to the memories of my grandmother’s fabric flower decorations. This is a painting that pays tribute to the women of the Black community. I love us.
