We aim to
highlight artists;
not just artwork.
The mission of Black Art Magazine is to give power and recognition to the artists who play an integral role in shaping communities worldwide. Too often, viewers forget to acknowledge the artist before consuming their artwork. We hope to create a platform to build respect for talented Black artists by putting them up for show; not just their pieces of art.

ARTIST FAQ
artist bio vs. artist statement?
An artist bio is used to talk about yourself, like a resume or cover letter. An artist statement is used to talk the meaning and processes behind your art.
An artist’s bio is a short paragraph, written in prose, and in the third person. It tells more about the way your life has influenced your work. A bio is about you, the artist, as opposed to an “artist’s statement” which is more about the work and the themes behind it, and is written in first person.
Is a page front and back ?
A page is one side of a sheet of paper. Two pages side by side make a spread.
what is an artist interview ?
The goal of the interview is to provide readers with specific information on how to thrive in the Black art community and larger art market.
We will provide selected artists with interview questions. Artist answers will be featured within your full feature pages. Example questions may include:
What is integral to the work of an artist?
How have you developed your career?
How do you seek out opportunities?
